The Pathfinder from the Nissan group was launched for the first time in the model year 1986 and company has continued the production of model till date.

The cars produced during the period 1986 to 2004 falls under the category of compact SUV class and the models produced after 2004 to till date are the mid-sized SUV vehicles. The car is designed with the front engine layout providing either the four wheel drive or the rear wheel drive. The car is known as Terrano in all the countries except in North America. The first, second and third generation platforms are known as WD21, R50 and R51 respectively.

First Generation (1986-1995)

The first generation Nissan Pathfinder also known as NissanTerrano offered in two different body styles- two door SUV and the four-door SUV models. Second Generation (1996 to 2004)

The second generation Nissan Pathfinder also called as Infiniti QX4 and Nissan Terrano was introduced in the model year 1996 and continued its production up to 2004, with the same design features. All the models were produced at the Kyushu in Japan and Barcelona in Spain. The car was built on the four door SUV body style and on the Nissan R50 platform.

Third Generation (2005-present)

The present model uses the Nissan F-Alpha platform and is available in two different models like- 4.0 liter V6 VQ40DE that produce 200 kilo watts of power and the 2.5 liter Turbo Diesel I4 engine that produce 130 kilo watts of power. The SUV pathfinder is offered in two different transmissions like- the 5-speed automatic transmission and the 6-speed manual transmission for the models other than in America.
