2006 Nissan Pathfinder Recall Summary

2006 Nissan Pathfinder models were recalled due to issue related to the fuel tank on March 3rd 2010.



Few models with the molded fuel tank shells deformed, which caused the float arm associated to the fuel sender to come in contact with the embossment.

This in turn sent out wrong fuel gauge indications. This may cause vehicle to run out of gas in the traffic and increase the crash risk.

Dealers were advised to take care of replacing the fuel level sending unit present inside the tank.

Problem in Intelligent Power Distribution Module

In a recent recall, Nissan Pathfinder units were recalled on October 28th 2010. Intelligent power distribution module present in the vehicle that comprises of relay associated to the engine control module allowed formation of silicon vapor, which in turn could develop silicon oxide. Finally, this could cause engine stalling.

The replacement of the ECM relay will be done by the respective dealers.

2005 Pathfinder Recall- Problem with Wiring

The 2005 version of Pathfinder was recalled on July 3rd 2007 due to problem with the misplacing of the wire in incorrect position. This incorrect position will create lack of trailer braking. Failure of the brake applications may result in reduced ability to stop the vehicle. Hopkins notified the owners and replaced the revised wiring harness. Suspension Problem

We must keep the suspension system in good condition. Nissan has double wishbone rear/front suspension, front-wheel independent suspension. The lower control link assembly has 2 cylindrical collars that attach the inboard point to the chassis. Some 2006 editions found to be welded improperly, due to the separation of the attachments, the handling went got damaged.

Engine Problem

Nissan Pathfinder is powered by a 4.0-liter V6 engine. There is an assembly called intelligent power distribution module (IPDM) that contains an engine control module relay. This relay has a diode in it to reduce the electrical current noise. There may be a formation of silicon vapor. The silicon evaporates from the diode patterns to form the silicon oxide on the engine control module relay contact due to arcing. This may even cause engine stalling raising the risk of a crash.
